Overhead Door Key Pad Programming Instructions

In speaking with our customers on a daily basis, it is clear that there can be confusion over how to program an Overhead Door Code Dodger key pad.

Programming instructions can vary depending on the model of the key pad and model of the garage door  opener.

This article focuses on the current series Overhead Door Code Dodger key pad (part #37225R - OKP-BX). 

The easiest way to distinguish a current series Overhead Door Code Dodger key pad from another model key pad are asterisk symbols on each side of the “Need Help? Call 1-800-354-3643”. You will find this phrase at the bottom of the programming instructions on the inside of the key pad cover.

To help clarify the confusion on how to program the current series Overhead Door key pad, we have outlined below a summary of the programming instructions. Please note that these instructions can also be found on the inside cover of the key pad.

To Delete Existing Code

Press and hold down the PROGRAM and ARROW button for 5 seconds

Program New Code 

1. Press and release the following buttons in order
2. 3, 5, 7, PROGRAM
3. Enter your new Code
4. Press and release the PROGRAM

Programming Code to Opener

Code Dodger - Old Style Openers

1. Press and Release Learn Code Button on the garage door opener motor
2. The LED next to the Learn Code button will blink red
3. Enter your Key Pad Code
4. Press ARROW button on the key pad 3 times 

Odyssey & Destiny Openers

1. Locate the square PROGRAM button on the garage door opener motor
2. Press and Hold Down the PROGRAM button until both LED lights turn Blue
3. Release the PROGRAM button and the round Blue LED will remain lit
4. Press and Release the PROGRAM Button and the long LED will begin to blink purple
5. Enter the your key pad code
6. Press the ARROW button on the key pad 3 times
